| Description: | In dieser Diplomarbeit wird das Theaterprojekt Fazendo Arte im Stadtteil Morro do Turano in Rio de Janeiro untersucht. Das Theaterprojekt liegt in einer der Favelas Rio de Janeiros
und bietet Theaterunterricht für Kinder und Jugendliche aus dem Stadtteil an. Die Untersuchung lässt sich innerhalb der Diskurse der Disziplinen Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie und Theaterwissenschaften einordnen. Es wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie durch Theater Empanzipation in Favelas in Rio de Janeiro stattfindet und Gewalt als ein Teil der Lebensrealität in Favelas theatralisch dargestellt wird. Die Beschreibung des Theaterprojekts und die Analyse basieren auf empirischem Material, das während einer Feldforschung 2007 gesammelt wurde. Dem Prozess der Forschung und der Datengewinnung werden in der Arbeit speziell Raum gegeben und dabei besonders die Situation der Forscherin im Kontext von urbaner Gewalt reflektiert. Nach einer Annäherung an eine Definition für Favelas in Rio de Janeiro, wird die Entstehung und die Entwicklungen der Favelas historisch rekonstruiert. Spezifische Gewaltformen, die die Favela-Bevölkerung betreffen, wie Rassismus und Diskriminierung, der lokale Drogenhandel und Polizeigewalt, werden näher erläutert. Um den Lebensraum Favela theoretisch zu erfassen, werden stadtethnologische Konzepte angewandt. Stadt wird hierbei als Raum begriffen, indem sich soziale Realitäten verdichten und ablesen lassen. Besonderen Wert wird bei der Beschreibung von Favelas darauf gelegt einen politischen und historischen Kontext herzustellen und diese Stadtteile nicht als isolierte Einheiten darzustellen. Soziokulturelle Projekte, wie das in dieser Arbeit untersuchte Theaterprojekt, werden in diesem Kontext als neue städtische Bewegungen und politische Antwort auf die Lebensbedingungen in Rio de Janeiros Favelas betrachtet. Fazendo Arte wird aus theaterwissenschaftlicher Sicht als Theater des gesellschaftlichen Dialoges verstanden. Theater als Ort von sozialen und gesellschaftlichen Verhandlungen wird an dieser Stelle als Spezifikum des brasilianischen Theaters der Gegenwart näher erläutert. Der Einfluss von Paulo Freire und Augusto Boal auf das emanzipatorische Theater wird hierbei hervorgehoben. Ich stelle in dieser Arbeit Fazendo Arte also als ein emanzipatorisches Theaterprojekt dar, das sich dem Thema der urbanen Gewalt in ihren unterschiedlichen Facetten widmet. Durch seine Arbeit leistet das Projekt einen wichtigen Beitrag zur neuen Wahrnehmung und Sichtbarkeit der Favelas in Rio de Janeiro und versucht die Vorstellungen der Favela als Ort der Kriminalität und Armut zu dekonstruieren. ; The theses is exploring the theatre project Fazendo Arte, which is located in the township Morro do Turano in Rio de Janeiro. The theatre project is offering theatre classes for children and young people in the township. The analysis is following discourses of social- and cultural anthropology and theatre sciences. It raises the question how emancipation by the use of theatre is happening and how everyday violence in Rio de Janeiro´s favelas is theatrically performed. The description of the theatre project is based on empirical material, which was collected during a field research in 2007. The reflection of the field work process and the data collection – especially the situation of the researcher in the context of urban violence – is given attention. After defining favelas, the formation and the development of favelas in Rio de Janeiro is historically reconstructed. Different forms of violence from which the favela population is suffering, like racism and discrimination, the local drug traffic and police violence, are illustrated. To explore the living environment of favelas, concepts of urban anthropology are applicated. City is understood as a space in which social realities are concentrated and can be read. A special focus in the description of favelas is laid on the political and historical context. Sociocultural projects like the analysed theatre project, are described in this context as new urban movements and as a political answer to the worsening living conditions in Rio de Janeiro. From the theatre science point of view Fazendo Arte is seen as theatre which gives space to social dialogue. Theatre as space for social negotiations is analysed as a special quality of contemporary Brasilian theatre. The influence of Paulo Freire und Augusto Boal on this emancipatory theatre is shown. Fazendo Arte is demonstrated in this theses as an emacipatory theatre project, which is dealing with urban violence in all its aspects. The work of Fazendo Arte is an important contribution for a new reception and visibility of favelas in Rio de Janeiro and in doing so, deconstructing the image of favelas as a space of criminality and poverty.
